A new age dawns on Spain's Costa Calida next summer with the opening of a luxurious InterContinental hotel.
Situated in the glorious, sun-kissed region of Murcia, the hotel at Polaris World's Mar Menor resort is the first of three superbly designed resort hotels planned for the area, all featuring simply-stated elegance and style.
InterContinental Mar Menor Resort will provide intimate luxury in its 64 rooms and suites, each with a Spanish Mediterranean feel... earthy tones, such as in the terracotta floors, blend into and enhance the surrounding landscape. The stunning design has a hint of Moorish influence - including the artwork on the walls.
The aim is to offer guests sophistication with a casual air. Each room will have its own private balcony with pool or golf-course view. Sensational bathrooms and rustic room decor add to that special feel.
The hotel will boast a first-class contemporary restaurant with open terrace and patio area, a ballroom and pre-function area (with full-length windows and a feature staircase descending from the lobby).
The lobby lounge is an ideal spot to relax and unwind, perhaps after a challenging round of golf.
There will also be bars in the lobby and on the terrace as well as a fun pub to choose from. The themed speciality restaurant will offer the very best in authentic Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine, as well as a golf club lounge, Spike Bar and a convenient Pool Bar Grill.
Nestling in the heart of a golf course, guests can stroll from the hotel lobby straight on to the first tee. Professional golf lessons will be available, along with a driving range and putting green. There will be also be a tennis court, and an E'SPA wellness centre with a 15-metre indoor pool.
InterContinental Mar Menor will be conveniently close to the historic cities of Murcia and Cartagena. And being near to the Mar Menor and Mediterranean seas means that there is a wealth of watersports for all the family, from swimming, snorkelling and diving, to sailing, waterskiing and more.
InterContinental Mar Menor will sit just 10 minutes from San Javier airport, 40 minutes from Alicante airport, and the soon-to-be-completed Corvena International Airport will be 20 minutes away.
Next in line, in 2007, is a luxurious Crowne Plaza hotel, currently under construction at Polaris World's nearby La Torre Golf Resort. A 200-room deluxe hotel overlooking a spectacular lake, it will boast an 18-hole Nicklaus Design golf course , a professional gymnasium, indoor and outdoor pools, a fabulous spa by E'SPA, themed restaurants and a magnificent conference centre with a 1,000-delegate capacity.
Also scheduled for 2007 is the new InterContinental hotel at Polaris World's El Valle Golf Resort, overlooking one of Murcia's most beautiful nature reserves. The hotel will have150 guestrooms and suites and exceptional facilities, featuring indoor and outdoor pools, gymnasium and an exclusive spa by E'SPA.
In addition, there will be a variety of dining options, from fine dining by candlelight to more informal settings al fresco. The hotel will provide the ultimate luxurious and relaxing experience.
